It’s Francophonie Week – a celebration of francophone history and culture, culminating in French Language Day on 20 March.

Dated Monday, 27 June 1932.Aviation de France (1945) by R de Narbonne and R Gaujour is a great read for anyone interested in planes – chapters include The Passion of the Allies and The Sky of the Empire.Learn about Soviet history with Russie D’aujourd’hui(Russia Today 1938). This issue is dedicated to the Soviet youth and features articles by Russian and foreign experts, journalists and political scientists, discussing the international geopolitical situation and the place of Russia in a new world reality.Test your knowledge of French geography with this 1950s tourist leaflet and map of Bourgogne (Burgundy). The pamphlet promotes Dijon, Beaune and Cluny, and gives instructions on tours of the area, with details on transport links and what to see.Issue 316 ofMiroir du Monde (1936), a weekly illustrated magazine, is dedicated to advertising and includes articles such as Reflections on Advertising, The Great Parisien Press and Plagiarised Publicity. The striking cover design is by the so-called father of modern advertising Leonetto Cappiello (1875-1942).Published in 1937, this French-language guidebook toVincenzia Italy features maps, photographs and reproductions of the city’s artwork – perfect for anyone dreaming of a holiday abroad!
