Anyone For Tennis?

PS0222_1_mPS0500_1_mFrom the Australian Open, Roland Garros and the Queen’s Club Championships to the US Open, French Open and Wimbledon, the tennis season is now well underway for the summer.

The game is thought to have started in the 12th century with rackets first used in the 16th century. The modern game of lawn tennis that’s played today started in the late 1800s.

Firstly, we would like to thank everyone who was able to make it to our first exhibition, The Age of Steam. If you missed this exhibition but are interested in steamship and railway posters, our catalogue is available to purchase via our website.

Here is our upcoming calendar of events for the summer:

Wednesday 29 June, 7-8pm
Talk – Introduction to Collecting Posters

We would like to invite you to our talk on collecting posters, which will include a brief history of posters, covering some of the main art styles and collectible subjects with an explanation of printing techniques. We will also cover posters as an alternative investment in art, give guidance on how to spot a fake and provide practical information on poster condition, preserving posters and starting a collection. Tickets cost £10 (includes a copy of our catalogue and welcome drink). Places are limited so please let us know as soon as possible if you would like to book a place at this event. Saturday 23 July
Original Vintage Poster Collector Auction

Our next auction will feature a variety of posters from around the world, including a significant collection of European exhibition and Soviet propaganda posters. New and experienced collectors and dealers will benefit from the low starting prices (with no reserves) – from only £5. A preview will be available at our gallery from 20-23 July. Summer Exhibition – Come Fly With Me

Experience the thrill and elegance of travelling to exotic destinations by propeller plane in the 1920-30s and the excitement of boarding a new jet plane in the modern mid-century era. Step back in time and travel the world in style this summer through the stunning artwork that will be on display at our next exhibition.

Looking ahead, we will be participating at the next annual LAPADA Fair, Berkeley Square, London, from 13-18 September at Stand C6. Full details will be posted on our website nearer the time. Please let us know if you would like a complimentary invitation to visit us at this event.
